Indescribable Indexing

Recently last week I started Indexing.  Now I started FamilySearch way before that but it wasn't until last week I started. It all began with one simple practise with Brad, and since then I have been really into it, doing at least a batch a day. My first major project were Pennsylvania Obituaries. Brad warned me it was going to be very difficult but I made it through. Now the interesting thing about it is finding out how they died, which I discovered after one of the Obituaries says about a man who committed suicide. It also warned it wasn't for children or the tender-hearted. Because I kept my sadness silent, Mom called me hard-hearted (not the sinful kind.) Other projects I did included Jamaican marriages, Massachusetts births and London Registers of Electors. If you haven't started indexing, try it. It's a wonderful service completely worth your time.

Our Saviour's Love

Today I have been invited to speak to you about the saviours love. I’d like to share one of my favourite examples of seeing the Saviour’s Love in the world. 

One of my favourite parts of general conference is watching the World Report in between sessions: and one of my favourite parts about the World Report is hearing about the Church’s humanitarian service. 

Around the world the church and it’s members share the Saviour’s love by providing aid to the victims of natural disasters. Some of the examples in the last year include Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, support to Syrian refugees and help with the floods in southern Alberta. 

I watched a video that talked about some saints in the Philippines. They had experienced death and devastation but they still had faith. One man said they experienced so much destruction but had faith, and felt hope. God answered his prayers and his family

 was spared. 

Its like the words in the hymn Our Saviour’s Love

Our Saviors Love

shines like the sun with perfect light

As from above

It breaks through clouds of strife

Lighting our way

It leads us back into his sight

Where we may stay

To share eternal life 

An example of the saviours love is found in 1 Nephi 11: 8 - 25 (better known as the story of the iron rod.) Here, Nephi is learning about his father’s vision of the tree of life. In says in verse 25 … “And it came to pass that I beheld the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God which lead unto the fountain of living waters, or the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God.” This verse means that our father in heaven loves us so much, he sends prophets, so that we may grip the iron rod and guide ourselves to the tree of life, so we can live with God once more and avoid temptation. 

Also in D&C 20:31, it says… “And we know also, that sanctification through grace of our Lord and Saviour is just and true and all those who love and serve God with all their might, minds and strength.” 

He loves so much that he sent his only beloved son down to Earth to perform miracles; Curing leprosy and all manner of diseases, even causing the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dumb to speak, the lame to walk, cleansing sinners and even raising the dead. Later he atoned for all of our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane where he sweated drops of blood, and then later betrayed, where back in Jerusalem where he was condemned by his own people, and was mocked, beaten, reviled and later crucified on the cross, and risen from the tomb after three days so we may live again.

It’s a good thing to call yourself a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, but it’s a better to show your a member of the church by showing the saviours love to others. 

Our prophet recently spoke of the love of our saviour.  President Thomas S. Monson said “Our celebration of Christmas should be a reflection of the love and selflessness taught by the saviour. Giving, not getting, brings to full bloom the Christmas spirit. We feel more kindly one to another. We reach out in love to help those less fortunate. Our hearts our softened. Enemies are forgiven. Friends remembered and God obeyed.

One way our family has experienced the Saviour’s love in our lives is through the adoption of my new sister Maylia. The adoption wasn’t easy and took many years. Over the years we prayed, fasted, and hoped, and finally just before Christmas my parents brought her home. 

Maylia came from an orphanage in southern China. She was found by the police as an infant. She had some health problems including a hole in her heart . We don’t know why her mother left her but we don’t think it was because she wasn’t loved, but because her mother loved her so much and just couldn’t take care of her.  

It metaphorical terms Sometimes this is like us. Sometimes we might feel abandoned or alone. But, in fact the saviour loves us very much, and wants to fill all the holes in our hearts.

She also adapted well to her new environment a lot better and quicker than we thought, and we’re grateful for it. I think it’s really exciting to have a new sister and I love he very much.

I like to bear my testimony, I know god loves us no matter what, I know that we can live with him again, I know Joseph Smith restored the gospel.

World War Z review (SPOILERS) revised

A month ago when my siblings were in bed, my parents took me into the TV room to see my first horror/zombie movie. World War Z; Based on the novel by Max Brooks. I'm kidding I just started to read the book and the movie zero resemblance to the movie, ZERO! They only got the title, and nothing else. What a way of good source material. The book is a recollection of survivor stories from around the world, not one character. Also you know how Jerusalem fell in the movie. Well not in the book. Even though it's 100% inaccurate it makes up for it with a mixture of and dynamite action and suspense that kept you on the edge of your seat. The characters were well put together. It said to have many production issues yet somehow it made millions and good reviews. The main reason I like this film is because how it started my love of zombie pop culture. My verdict is Dynamite for being a decent living dead film with thrilling action suspense, scenes and more

Striking a Whopper Achievement

I'm really sorry I'm overdue; I was just so caught up with the summer, Seminary and the school days. In July I saw a documentary with my family about the Great Slave Lake ice road. it was quite interesting. In August my dad announced my mother and sister would be going to Hawaii; leaving the boys in Alberta. BUT NOT THIS TIME!! Instead my dad booked Me, My brother, my grandpa and himself on a flight to YELLOWKNIFE, N.W.T, and I was so hyped up for the trip! We took a nice flight to the north, and we're greeted with the smell of wildfire smoke, arrived at a hotel, ate at a restaurant named Bullock's Bistro (which had a lot of character, and great whitefish.) After that we looked at the nice homes to be found at the Old Town peninsula. The next day we headed over to the legislature. The building was made of zinc, while our legislature is old stone. Next we headed over to Bullock's Bistro, which had a lot of character as my dad explained. After eating some whitefish we settled in for the night. The next day was big!!! We were on a fishing rip in Great Slave Lake. We got a boat driver and headed of to an island in the lake and practiced. Within minutes I got the first catch of the day (or in my whole life!) Dad and Grandpa followed with their own pike shortly after, but it was Grayson how the biggest pike (for the 'practice round' to be exact.) After moving offshore I soon caught the first one we were going to eat. The size was bigger than what was caught earlier but Grayson soon answered with a larger one My luck changed for the better as I was hauling in fish after fish and Grayson replied with a demand to switch spots (I don't know what was in his head at the time and I did kill a couple n the process.) We landed on another island gut the fish and eat them and Grayson was holding the heart THAT WAS STILL BEATING! After that it was reaching the last stages But in the final minutes of the adventure I struck a whopper. I saw 42-incher and a bigger one behind it (but it was too late,) and I did reel it in even with my skinny and long arms (sadly we released it anyway.) The next day involved a hike around the old ice road where the truckers haul in vital cargo and took a picture and the mine that was bombed. It followed the next day with viewing art galleries and a trip to the dancing moose and sadly that was the end of our trip.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Review

Now let me get this straight, you probably seen the game and its rating, and you'll be angry with me for playing an M rated game and be saying "No, no, no, how could you do it! You said you would never play games like that, but you did, your a fail, a disgrace to your religion, your family, your standards and everyone you care about!" But here's the catch. You knowin the post Frust-rating how I asked companies to add options that 'turn off' bad content. Well this game had it!! And my mother, allowed me to play it. When I first tried it, I found out why the franchise got so many excellent reviews! The controls functioned perfectly, the multiplayer mode was attention-grabbing and the gameplay was addicting. The game was set it the years 1985 to 2025. They told me of futuristic weapons ruined cities World War 3 and much more. In conclusion this game deserves a 5 out of 5 stars and a two thumbs up?

Awesome Autism

The movie of Temple Grandin which I review about in the last post, also told about autism and how she behaves with it. A thing autistics have is delayed speech. The normal person speaks his/her first word in about 10 months: for me it was 18, and for Temple it was 4 years! Or for some people they can't talk at all. A benefit is photographic memory; for example I can remember visually the time I got stung by a wasp. Another benefit is thinking in pictures; an example is when I read a novel I make a little movie in my mind and it really helps me. A surprising fact about my life with autism is I was able to read and write before I could speak! Another thing about autism and me is I don't really tolerate crowds of people and I'm very sensitive to noise. But nevertheless everyone tries their best whether it's school or church to make me feel welcome (which is why I am respected by pretty much everyone in school.) Another thin is talking to myself. I do it to keep out unwelcome thoughts, manage stress or even pass the time. For me my type of autism is better then others. Some autistics as mentioned earlier can't speak at all, or sometimes they runaway from home! A great thing about it is sharper and expanded memory. I can see what others are blind to, i can here what others are deaf to! Plus there is no cure for it, so it's going to be with me for the rest of my life! In conclusion Autism IS NOT a disease. It may be a budan to others but for me it's a blessing!

Temple Grandin Review

Not long ago I watched a movie about one of the most famous people in the world: Temple Grandin. She is a woman who revolutionized and improved feedlots and slaughterhouses, making them more humane for animals. The reason why I love her work is not only we share our love for animals (even though i'm mostly a wildlife person) but also we both have autism! We have so much in common! She couldn't speak a single world until she was 4 years old, for me it took me 18 months(the average it at 8, 9 or 10 months.) So we were both delayed. And by the time I could speak my pattern as irregular. We both think in pictures, use things to calm us down and can be easily provoked and are sensitive to noise and large amounts of people. It also tells her she overcame so many barriers and changed how people look on autism.  Before I discovered her I had a fear of factory farming. I watched a video called The Meatrix (a cross between The Matrix and Food Inc.) It showed the unbelievable horrors of factory farms, e.g. using steroids in meat, antibiotics, hormones, cramped conditions, chemicals, feeding calves blood, pollution, Drugs etc! For a guy who is really into meat it was a big shock! I felt like I was digging my own grave! (Yet it did not stop me from eating meat and milk products.) Until I found out about Grandin and her work. Anyway, was 2 hours of, relief, suspense, uneasiness and a bit of tears (for my siblings.) Despite all of that, I give 5 out of 5 stars and a two thumbs up. Did you know after we watched it, it made my sister want to go vegetarian? And it still doesn't stop me from eating meat.
